This morning, a joint operation led by PDEA 4A, PNP, LTO, LTFRB, and the Department of Health carried out random drug testing at a bus terminal located in Brgy. Turbina, Calamba City, Laguna.

Approximately 60 jeepney and bus drivers underwent the drug testing, with two individuals testing positive for illegal substances.

PDEA4A Information Officer Mary Ann Lorenzo stated that those who tested positive will undergo confirmatory tests on their urine samples to ensure the accuracy of the results and rule out any false positives due to medication or alcohol consumption.

PLtCol. Milany Martirez of the PNP supervised the drug testing, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that all drivers are not involved in illegal drug activities to guarantee the safety of passengers reaching their destinations.

Additionally, K9 sniffing dogs were deployed to detect any potential threats of explosives, enhancing security measures at the terminal.

Passengers and drivers alike expressed their support for the government’s efforts in ensuring safe travel for everyone. They welcomed the initiative as a crucial step towards promoting public safety on the roads.

In an additional statement, LTO Regional Law Enforcement Section Office, Regional Team Leader Arnold Aguila advised drivers who are using illegal drugs to cease such activities immediately. He emphasized that the lives of their passengers depend on their sobriety and responsible conduct. Aguila urged drivers to prioritize the safety and well-being of their passengers by staying drug-free and vigilant while on duty.
