In a significant blow to the illegal drug trade, joint operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Laguna Provincial Office, PDEA Regional Office IV-A Special Enforcement Team 2, and Sta Cruz Municipal Police Station successfully conducted a buy-bust operation in Sitio Maunawain, Barangay Duhat, Sta Cruz, Laguna. The operation, which took place on May 8, 2024, at 11:55 PM, resulted in the apprehension of a high-value drug personality identified as Nikki Zotomayor y Maristela, a 32-year-old male, tricycle driver, and casino agent, and resident of Barangay Duhat, Sta Cruz, Laguna.
During the operation, authorities seized approximately 535 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of Php3,638,000.00. In addition to the illegal substances, they also confiscated Php1,000.00 in buy-bust money from the suspect.
The apprehension of Nikki Zotomayor y Maristela underscores the importance of proactive law enforcement measures in addressing the drug problem. By targeting high-value personalities like Zotomayor, authorities aim to disrupt the supply chain and dismantle drug networks operating in the region, law enforcement agencies remain vigilant in their efforts to prevent the spread of illegal drugs and uphold the rule of law. The successful buy-bust operation serves as a reminder of the relentless pursuit of justice and the commitment to safeguarding communities from the harmful effects of illegal substances.
The suspect will face charges for violation of Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
