In a notable effort to advance peace and reintegration, the Rizal Provincial Government, under the leadership of Governor Nina Ricci A. Ynares, organized an awarding ceremony for the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-administered assistance package granted to nine former rebels. The ceremony was held at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Ynares Center Complex, in Antipolo City, Rizal.
The ceremony saw prominent figures in attendance, including Brigadier General Cerilo C. Balaoro Jr., Commander of the 202nd Infantry (Unifier) Brigade, who voiced strong support for the reintegration process. Honorable Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr., Secretary of the DILG, also graced the occasion, underscoring the government’s unwavering commitment to peace and development.
The former rebels received a comprehensive assistance package totaling PhP716,663.87. This package included immediate assistance, livelihood support, reintegration aid, and remuneration for surrendered firearms.
Governor Ynares emphasized the collaborative spirit of the initiative, stating, “This initiative embodies the whole-of-government, whole-of-nation approach. Together, we are creating our future through the love and support we extend to one another. Let us continue to work hand in hand for peace and progress in our communities.”
BGen Balaoro praised the local government’s dedication, remarking, “This event is a testament to the government’s sincerity in fulfilling its promises to our rescued friends. The E-CLIP benefits are proof that we have not forgotten those who have chosen the path of peace.” He further urged remaining NPA members to lay down their arms and join the reintegration efforts, assuring them of the government’s support in transforming their lives.
Secretary Abalos reiterated the DILG’s commitment to fostering peace, saying, “We are always looking forward to partnerships that foster peace and development. The Department remains committed to supporting former rebels as they reintegrate into society and build better futures for themselves and their communities. Together, we can create a more peaceful and prosperous nation.”
The awarding of the DILG-administered assistance package is a crucial component of the government’s broader strategy to enhance peace and order in the region by encouraging former rebels to return to civilian life and contribute positively to their communities.
