Laguna Police Arrest Two High-Value Individuals, Seize P340K Worth of Illegal Drugs and Firearms in Buy-Bust Operation

Calamba City, Laguna – Two high-value individuals (HVI) were arrested, and firearms along with illegal drugs worth an estimated P340,000 were confiscated in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Santa Cruz Municipal Police Station on Friday, December 13, 2024.

Laguna Police Provincial Director PCOL Gauvin Mel Y. Unos identified the suspects as “Toto,” a resident of Sta. Cruz, Laguna, and “Jeff,” a resident of Pila, Laguna. Both are classified as high-value individuals due to their significant involvement in the illegal drug trade.

According to the report of PLTCOL Mark Julius E. Rebanal, Chief of Police of Santa Cruz MPS, the operation was carried out at 4:30 AM in Barangay Duhat, Sta. Cruz. The suspects were arrested after selling suspected illegal drugs to an undercover police officer using marked buy-bust money.

Confiscated from the suspects were 12 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing approximately 50 grams with a street value of P340,000. Other seized items included one P1,000 bill used as buy-bust money, 12 P100 bills believed to be drug money, a .38 caliber pistol, a .45 caliber pistol with ammunition, two coin purses, a sling bag, and a black Chevrolet Optra vehicle.

The suspects are now in the custody of the Santa Cruz MPS, while charges for violating RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) are being prepared.

PCOL Unos commended the Santa Cruz police team for their successful operation, emphasizing the Laguna PNP’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs to ensure public safety and peace in the province.

“This operation highlights our commitment to eradicating illegal drugs, especially those involving high-value individuals,” said PCOL Unos. “Congratulations to the Santa Cruz MPS for this achievement, proving the effectiveness of our ongoing efforts to serve and protect the community.”
