HVT Arrested in Lucena City Drug Bust; Marijuana and Shabu Seized

Philippines – A high-value target (HVT) in the illegal drug trade was arrested during a buy-bust operation at Purok 7, Brgy. Dalahican, Lucena City, on February 16, 2025, at 4:45 PM. The operation was carried out by a joint team from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Quezon Provincial Office, the Philippine Air Force-Tactical Operations Group 4, and the Philippine Coast Guard Station-Southern Quezon.

The suspect, a 21-year-old construction worker and resident of Brgy. Dalahican, was apprehended after selling illegal substances to an undercover agent. Authorities seized a significant quantity of illegal drugs, including marijuana and shabu, during the operation.

Confiscated items included a resealable plastic sachet containing dried marijuana leaves weighing approximately 10 grams, valued at Php 1,200. Additionally, a black disposable vape containing suspected marijuana oil weighing 17.2 grams (Php 3,000) and two vape cartridges with a yellowish liquid suspected to be marijuana oil weighing 22.2 grams (Php 5,000) were also recovered. The biggest seizure was twelve packs of suspected shabu, weighing around 11 grams, with an estimated market value of Php 74,800. Buy-bust money and various drug paraphernalia were also collected as evidence.

The suspect is currently detained at the PDEA Region IV-A Custodial Facility. He will face charges for violating Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) under Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations in Quezon Province and beyond. They urge the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal drugs, emphasizing that community cooperation is vital in the fight against drug-related crimes.
