MACALELON DECLARED INSURGENCY-FREERoad to Insurgency-Free Province

The municipality of Macalelon led by Hon. Artemio A Mamburao in partnership with the AFP- LTC JOEL R JONSON, Commanding Officer, 85IB, 2ID, Quezon Police Provincial Office- PCOL LEDON D MONTE, Macalelon MPS- PMAJ MARLON C COMIA, Chief of Police and in cooperation with the MLGOO Rowel G Santos signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) declaring the Municipality of Macalelon as Insurgency- Free today December 12, 2022 at Macalelon Covered Court through a Joint Intelligence Assessment of the AFP and the Quezon PPO.

Since 2021 barangays and organization in the municipality are cleared from communist and terrorist influence, where its political and military structures have been dismantled, redirected/ reoriented and have ceased to function. Recorded zero incident of terroristic activities for more than a year, giving the Municipality of Macalelon the SIPs status based on the AFP parameters. The declaration also means that the LGU activities have reached to the sustainment and development phase ready for investment and development projects.

Thus, this declaration is the most challenging task, the “sustainment and prevention “of the Communist Party of the Philippines from recruiting and regrouping, with this the LGU together with all concerned government agencies would play a big role in sustaining the peace gains in the Municipality of Macalelon.

The obligations of both parties are clearly stated in the MOA, including the utilization of all available resources to ensure the success and continous support in the implementation of soci-economic programs on the part of the LGU and the conduct of activities designed to enhance law enforcement operations and prevent the resurgence of the CNTs in Macalelon on the part of the AFP and PNP.

This event marks the fruit of concerted efforts of the community against violence and terrorism and a significant milestone as it marked the collective victory of the government together with various sectors that work together towards attaining peace and security in Macalelon.

The road to Insurgency-Free Province is on our way as Macalelon is the first to be declared as Insurgency Free Municipality in the Province, it will be followed by Gumaca and Guinyangan next month. (Edjun Mariposque)
