NCRPO top cop, PBGEN JONNEL C ESTOMO, expressed the sentiment of the whole metro cops over the demise of one brave member who sacrificed himself to protect the people and promote peace. Nevertheless, he conveyed his approbation to the personnel of Quezon City Police District composed of SWAT Team, DMFB, Sub-Station 16, SS8, and SS10 for the immediate response in a reported indiscriminate firing that transpired at about 11:30 AM on November 13, 2022 at Blk. 31, Brgy. Pasok Putik, Quezon City.

Investigation disclosed that upon learning about the incident, QCPD personnel conducted a follow-up operation against the suspect who was identified as Martin Luther Nuñez, male, 42 years old, a former PMMA cadet, on board a colored white Grandia.

However, during the course of negotiation at the residence of the suspect in Blk 11 Lot 4, Palmera Homes, Nova East, Maligaya Parkland, Brgy 177, Caloocan City, he opened fire against the operatives that led to an armed encounter. Unfortunatey, PLTCOL JERRY CASTILLO, Deputy Commander, DMFB was injured while PCpl Noel Ogano, SWAT member, was killed in action.

The firefight between the operatives and the suspect lasted for about 30 minutes. Accordingly, SWAT Team managed to throw a tear gas, hence, the suspect was suffocated that led to his neutralization and recovery of his firearms.

“NCRPO mourns the loss of a brave comrade who offered his life while fulfilling his sworn duty. We condole and extend our deepest sympathy to the bereaved family of our honorable man who left a name worth remembering.” Said PBGEN Estomo

He added, “hindi matatawaran ang katapangan na ipinakita ni PCpl Ogano na walang takot na humarap sa panganib upang tuparin ang kanyang tungkulin. Ito ay tunay na kapuri-puri at dapat lamang na ipagmalaki.”
