In a heartwarming display of solidarity and appreciation, the city of Calamba recently hosted a memorable NGO Day, bringing together local government officials, accredited NGOs, and community members in a celebration of collective efforts towards progress and development.

Led by Mayor Roseller H. Rizal and Vice Mayor Atty. Angelito Lazaro Jr., the event was a testament to the invaluable contributions of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in fostering positive change within the city. Held with the aim of recognizing and honoring the tireless work of these voluntary partners, the festivities were marked by a palpable sense of joy and gratitude.

Mayor Rizal, in his impassioned address, underscored the significance of acknowledging the pivotal role played by NGOs in advancing the welfare of the nation. He highlighted the city’s commitment to empowering these organizations, citing a clear ordinance that formalizes their recognition and underscores their importance in Calamba’s journey towards progress. “Tonight, we come together to celebrate the NGOs and People’s Council as our esteemed partners in enacting tangible reforms within our city,” Mayor Rizal remarked, expressing profound gratitude for their unwavering dedication and meaningful contributions.

Furthermore, Mayor Rizal reminisced about the collaborative efforts that led to the enactment of the ordinance, reflecting on the shared commitment of himself, Vice Mayor Lazaro Jr., and Congressman Cha during their tenure in the council. “We are delighted to witness the vibrant manifestation of the ordinance we championed, brought to life in all its colorful glory. Tonight, we extend our heartfelt appreciation and salute to Team Dugong Bayani for their remarkable contributions,” Mayor Rizal added, emphasizing the debt of gratitude owed to the NGOs for their steadfast support of the local government’s endeavors.

Vice Mayor Atty. Angelito Lazaro Jr. echoed Mayor Rizal’s sentiments, expressing sincere gratitude to all attendees for their unwavering support and participation in the event. He commended Mayor Rizal for his visionary leadership and the establishment of the People’s Council, emphasizing its role in promoting transparency and ensuring public awareness of the government’s initiatives for the betterment of the community. “Tonight, we celebrate not only the achievements of our NGOs but also the enduring spirit of collaboration and unity that defines our city,” Vice Mayor Lazaro Jr. affirmed, highlighting the significance of collective action in driving meaningful change.

Amidst the celebration, Congressman Ruth Hernandez arrived, expressing her readiness to assist especially those with family members facing illnesses by providing referrals or assistance with hospitalization expenses. Her presence further underscored the collaborative spirit and commitment to community welfare shared by all stakeholders present.

She also revealed the groundbreaking of a Regional Hospital in Bay, Laguna, scheduled for this May. This landmark development promises to provide improved access to healthcare services for residents in the region, marking a significant step forward in addressing healthcare needs and promoting well-being within the community.

The Calamba NGO Day celebration served as a poignant reminder of the power of unity and collaboration in effecting positive change within communities. Beyond the festivities, it symbolized a deeper commitment to fostering inclusivity, transparency, and partnership between the local government and civil society organizations.

Throughout the event, attendees were treated to various performances and exhibitions showcasing the diverse talents and initiatives championed by NGOs across Calamba. From environmental conservation efforts to educational programs and community development projects, the breadth and impact of their work were on full display, serving as a source of inspiration for all present.

As the night drew to a close, the resounding message of gratitude and appreciation lingered in the air, serving as a beacon of hope for continued cooperation and progress in Calamba. The success of the NGO Day celebration underscored the collective resolve of the city’s residents and stakeholders to work hand in hand towards a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
