Handa si Senador Lito Lapid na magbitiw sa kanyang posisyon kung mapapatunayang siya ay sangkot o protektor ng POGO operations sa Pampanga.
Ito ang kanyang pahayag sa isang pagdinig sa Senado tungkol sa mga iligal na aktibidad at human trafficking sa Bamban, Tarlac, at Porac, Pampanga, na niraid ng PAOCC at PNP.
Sa pagdinig, sinabi ni Porac Mayor Jing Capil na hindi pagmamay-ari ng senador ang 10-hektaryang lupain na tinayuan ng iligal na POGO hub sa Porac, Pampanga.
Nilinaw ni Lapid na wala siyang kinalaman sa operasyon ng POGO na inaakusa ng isang hindi pinangalanang vlogger.
Binanggit ni Lapid na hindi niya dudungisan ang kanyang pangalan na matagal na niyang pinangangalagaan.
Ayon kay Lapid, nagsilbi siyang vice-governor ng Pampanga, tatlong terminong gobernador, at ikaapat na termino na niya bilang senador sakaling magwagi sa reeleksyon sa 2025 senatorial elections.
“Hindi ako papayag na masira ang pangalan ko dito,” ani Lapid.
Hiniling ni Lapid kay NBI Director Jaime Santiago na beripikahin ang impormasyon na ang vlogger na bumabatikos sa kanya ay sangkot sa iba’t ibang kaso at wanted ng batas.
Nauna rito, hiniling ni Lapid sa Senate committee on women, children, and family relations na isama sa imbestigasyon ang POGO operations sa Porac, Pampanga, at kasuhan ang mga sangkot sa mga karumal-dumal na krimen kaugnay ng iligal na POGO.
