Thousands Gather in Laguna as President Marcos Jr. Leads Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas Rally

Santa Rosa City, Laguna – Laguna residents gathered to show support for the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas during a campaign rally led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on March 22 at East Bloc, Nuvali, Santa Rosa City.

The Alyansa, a coalition of five major political parties—Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), Nacionalista Party (NP), and National Unity Party (NUP)—aims to push policies that strengthen local industries, improve infrastructure, and expand public services in the province.

In his speech, President Marcos Jr. emphasized the importance of unity and urged supporters to vote for his 11 allied senatorial candidates in the upcoming May 12 elections.

Notable Absences and Local Support

Notably, the absence of his sister, Senator Imee Marcos, and Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar was notable, marking their third consecutive no-show at an Alyansa rally following events in Tacloban, Cavite, and now Laguna. Despite this, President Marcos Jr. expressed gratitude to Santa Rosa City Mayor Arlene Arcillas for her unwavering support of the alliance.

Mayor Arlene Arcillas reaffirmed her backing for all senatorial candidates, stating that she considers them all her friends.

Meanwhile, campaign manager Toby Tiangco clarified that there are no plans to remove anyone from the Alyansa’s lineup despite the absences. He encouraged those who missed the event to personally explain their reasons to the public.

Press Conference Highlights

Before the rally, a press conference was held featuring key Alyansa members, including former DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos, Senator Francis Tolentino, Makati Mayor Abby Binay, Congressman Erwin Tulfo, and former senators Ping Lacson and Tito Sotto. During the briefing, they shared their views and addressed media questions about their plans and advocacies.

“Walang OJT sa Alyansa,” Sotto declared

Sotto’s statement appears to be a subtle critique of some first-time candidates running for the Senate without extensive experience in lawmaking or public service.

That only those with sufficient experience in government or legislation are included in their ticket. That experience is crucial to effectively fulfilling the role of a senator without requiring on-the-job training.

He urged voters to elect senators who are ready to perform their duties immediately, ensuring that important laws and government programs are not delayed.

With the May 12 elections approaching, the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas continues to rally support, banking on their vision of national progress and strong local governance.
