SANTA ROSA CITY, Laguna — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the grand inauguration of the VITRO Santa Rosa (VSR) Data Center on April 23, 2025, marking a historic leap in the country’s digital infrastructure with the launch of the Philippines’ first artificial intelligence (AI)-ready and largest hyperscale data center.

Developed by VITRO Inc., a subsidiary of ePLDT under the PLDT Group, the VSR facility boasts an initial IT capacity of 50 megawatts and over 13,000 square meters of white space. This purpose-built, next-generation facility is designed to serve global technology giants and AI-driven enterprises, positioning the country as a digital gateway in the Asia-Pacific region.

“This milestone is not only a win for our economy, but for our future,” President Marcos said during the launch. “The VITRO Santa Rosa Data Center is a cornerstone of our ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ vision — smart, sustainable, and globally connected.”

Equipped with NVIDIA-powered GPU servers, the facility is built to meet the growing demands of AI workloads, enabling enterprises to scale AI adoption through real-time analytics, automation, and high-performance computing. In line with sustainability goals, 35% of the center’s energy is sourced from renewables, with energy-efficient cooling and backup systems further minimizing its environmental impact.

Strategically linked to other VITRO hubs in Makati, Parañaque, and Pasig through the VITRO Data Center Interconnect (DCI), and connected to PLDT’s vast international subsea cable network, the facility guarantees robust global connectivity and seamless scalability.

VITRO envisions the Santa Rosa site as an icon of Philippine digital transformation and a cornerstone in its ambition to become the region’s premier hyperscale and AI hub.

“This is not just a data center; this is the foundation of the Philippines’ future in the global digital economy,” said ePLDT and VITRO executives during the event.

With the VSR Data Center now live, the Philippines takes a major stride toward becoming a smarter, greener, and more AI-empowered society — leading the way for Southeast Asia’s digital evolution.
