Calamba City Mayor Roseller “Ross” H. Rizal joined provincial leaders and tourism advocates in the historic launching of the 1st Laguna Pilgrimage Tourism held at the National Shrine and Parish of Saint Anthony de Padua in Pila, Laguna—an event that highlights the province’s rich faith heritage, cultural identity, and local creativity.

Mayor Rizal expressed full support for the initiative, emphasizing Calamba’s pride in uplifting local talent.
He shared that a Calambeño product maker was selected to showcase their craft at the event, adding, “We supported the local product of our fellow Calambeño who was chosen to participate and display his talent on a wider stage.”

The inaugural pilgrimage tourism launch, spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Laguna, aims to strengthen the province’s religious tourism sector while promoting food tourism and local culture.

Governor Sol Aragones highlighted Laguna’s unmatched heritage, calling the province “kumpleto, siksik, liglig” with historic churches and deep-rooted stories of faith. “We don’t need to go abroad. The most meaningful historic sites are already here in Laguna,” she said, urging greater focus on local food tourism as a key attraction.

Cynthia Mamon, COO of Enchanted Kingdom and President of the Laguna Tourism Council, underscored the spiritual value of pilgrimage tourism, which she said “deepens faith and gives travelers a more meaningful journey.”

Pila Mayor Queen Alarva welcomed the honor of hosting the first-ever celebration, while Vice Governor Atty. JM Carait assured that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan is aligned with the governor’s pursuit of a comprehensive tourism plan.

Board Member Jam Agarao praised Governor Aragones as the “Mother of Laguna,” recognizing her dedication to elevating the province’s cultural and tourism landscape, especially in the 4th District.

Tourism consultant Rebecca V. Labit reported ongoing preparations—including security, traffic, and hospitality seminars—as Laguna positions itself for a growing influx of pilgrims and visitors.

The event concluded with a covenant signing, symbolizing unity among leaders, stakeholders, and communities in advancing pilgrimage tourism across Laguna.

Mayor Ross Rizal’s participation underscores Calamba City’s strong commitment to promoting tourism-driven economic opportunities—especially through local products and cultural industries that benefit Calambeños.
