CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — Calamba City Chief of Police PLTCOL Dennis C. De Guzman and eight members of the Calamba Component City Police Station (CCPS) have been awarded the Medalya ng Kagalingan (PNP Medal of Merit) held at Camp BGen. Paciano Rizal, LPPO, Sta. Cruz, Laguna in recognition of their outstanding performance during a successful anti-illegal drugs operation that led to the seizure of illegal drugs and a high-powered firearm.

The recognition was granted pursuant to National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Memorandum Circular No. 2025-007 and the guidelines of PNP Memorandum Circular No. 2022-043, in line with the provisions of Republic Act No. 6975 governing the authorized awards and decorations for Philippine National Police personnel.

Aside from PLTCOL De Guzman, the awardees include PMAJ Anastacio Mangabat Motas Jr., PMSg Christopher John Lu Chupeco, PSSg Arnel Manaig Sanque, PCpl Mark Jason De Vera Dalioan, PCpl Pablo Caranguian Carag, PCpl Jefrey Navarro Carandang, PCpl MC Ragil Hernandez Ricafrente, and Pat. John David Paloma Landicho.

The Medalya ng Kagalingan was conferred for the team’s commendable performance during a buy-bust operation conducted on August 1, 2026, in Barangay Looc, Calamba City, which resulted in the arrest of Baltazar Alyas Val.

Authorities recovered approximately 80 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of ₱544,000, along with a 9mm Uzi submachine gun, one magazine, and six rounds of live ammunition.

According to the citation, the successful operation demonstrated the awardees’ professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to their sworn duties, bringing honor not only to themselves but also to the Philippine National Police.

The Medal of Merit was awarded by command of Police Brigadier General Dominic L. Baccay, recognizing the team’s significant contribution to the PNP’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs and criminality in Calamba City.
