Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo has been arrested in Indonesia, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ). The arrest took place in Tangerang City on September 3, 2024. Guo, also known as Guo Hua Ping, was apprehended at 11:58 p.m. local time.

The DOJ confirmed that Guo is currently in the custody of the Indonesian Police at Jatanras Mabes Polri. This arrest is part of ongoing efforts to bring her to justice for multiple charges, including qualified trafficking in persons, tax evasion, and money laundering.

Guo had managed to flee the Philippines in July despite an arrest order and her inclusion in the Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO). She and her siblings reportedly escaped by boat, traveling through Malaysia before reaching Indonesia.

The DOJ is coordinating closely with Indonesian authorities to ensure all legal processes are followed to hold Guo accountable for her alleged crimes. This collaboration highlights the international effort to address serious criminal activities and ensure justice is served.

The arrest of Guo is seen as a significant development in the case, which has garnered widespread attention due to the severity of the charges and her high-profile status. The DOJ has expressed its commitment to pursuing the case diligently.

Local authorities in the Philippines have also been involved in the investigation, working alongside international counterparts to track down Guo and her associates. This cooperation underscores the importance of cross-border collaboration in tackling complex criminal cases.

As the legal proceedings continue, the public remains keenly interested in the outcome of the case. The DOJ has assured that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure a fair and transparent process, with updates to be provided as the situation develops.
