Calamba City, October 25, 2024 — Amid the devastating effects of Typhoon Kristine, Mayor Rosseller “Ross” H. Rizal has remained steadfast in his commitment to provide relief and support to affected residents. From preparing before the storm’s arrival to supporting recovery efforts afterward, Mayor Rizal has been actively visiting various barangays and evacuation centers to deliver relief goods and GOBAG Emergency Kits, which include bedding, flashlights, hygiene essentials, and other critical supplies.

“Know that I am here with you through every challenge, my beloved Calambeños,” stated Mayor Rizal. His swift actions have directly benefited thousands of families impacted by the typhoon across the barangays of San Juan, Palingon, Sampiruhan, Real, Bañadero, Pansol and many other barangays have already received aid as well, reaching thousands of families in need. Alongside his administration, he has prioritized providing immediate assistance and ensuring that the basic needs of evacuees are met during this critical time.

Mayor Rizal’s “Ramdam na reporma” advocacy, which aims to bring responsive and heartfelt governance to every Calambeño, has been evident in his efforts to personally assess the damage and deliver aid. His hands-on approach includes visiting affected families, engaging with the community, and assuring them that the local government is fully mobilized to provide continuous support.

Furthermore, he has been closely monitoring the damage to infrastructure, particularly the bridges in Parian, Looc, and Bañadero, to ensure they are safe for public use. Plans for necessary repairs are underway, emphasizing the priority of safety for all residents in Calamba. Mayor Rizal is committed to restoring essential infrastructure promptly and responsibly.

As Calamba faces the aftermath of Typhoon Kristine, Mayor Rizal has called upon the spirit of “bayanihan” – a Filipino value of communal unity and cooperation – to help the community rise together. He emphasized that prayers, solidarity, and teamwork are critical as they work to recover and rebuild, fostering resilience within the community.

The Mayor has reiterated his pledge to remain visible and active in these affected areas, personally overseeing the distribution of relief and the assessment of damages. He reassures residents that he will not cease his efforts until every Calambeño has a pathway toward recovery.

“We can overcome this, Calambeños, as long as we move forward together,” Mayor Rizal affirmed. “Stay safe, be vigilant, and let’s rebuild together.”
