Highway Patrol Group CALABARZON Reinforces Region 5 Efforts with Augmentation Team for Storm Relief

To address the aftermath of Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine” in the Bicol Region, the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 4A (RHPU4A), led by PCOL Rommel C. Estolano, deployed an augmentation team to Region 5. This team was sent to enhance the existing workforce of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG5), which is actively working to ensure smooth traffic flow and assist motorists in the affected areas.

On October 29, 2024, PMAJ Jonathan Victor M. Olveña, the Provincial Officer of PHPT Quezon, conducted a pre-deployment briefing for the dispatched team. This briefing focused on organizing traffic management efforts and providing assistance to stranded motorists, aiming to streamline road access for relief operations in Bicol. PMAJ Olveña emphasized the importance of coordination to maximize the effectiveness of their mission.

The additional personnel from CALABARZON are expected to play a crucial role in alleviating congestion and ensuring road safety, allowing essential aid to reach storm-impacted communities without delay. Their presence is particularly important on key highways that serve as lifelines for distributing relief goods and medical assistance to those most affected by the storm.

Under the leadership of PBGEN William M. Segun, the Highway Patrol Group continues to demonstrate its commitment to public service, responding promptly to crises that affect transportation networks. The RHPU4A team’s quick deployment is a testament to the HPG’s readiness to support national disaster response efforts.
