Highway Patrol Group CALABARZON Nabs Four Suspects, Recovers Stolen Red Mitsubishi Xpander

CALABARZON — In a decisive anti-carnapping operation, the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 4A (RHPU4A), led by PCOL Rommel C. Estolano, successfully arrested four suspects and recovered a stolen red Mitsubishi Xpander (plate number DBF 8309). The operation underscores the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) commitment to aggressive law enforcement against highway crimes.

The operation, conducted on November 17, 2024, was spearheaded by personnel from the Provincial Highway Patrol Team (PHPT) Cavite, under the supervision of PCPT Aldine F. Moreno and PMAJ Gegeon P. Merza. The suspects were identified as: Marla Marcelo y Salandanan (37 y/o), self-employed, from Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Pia Martinez y Buhisan, aka “PJ” (38 y/o), jobless, from Parañaque City, Dennise Nicole Creencia y Clamor (20 y/o), jobless, from Trece Martires, Cavite, Anthony Bautista y Cruz (54 y/o), a real estate agent, from San Pedro, Laguna.

The operation stemmed from a complaint filed by Letecia Suzon, 59, the registered owner of the stolen vehicle. Suzon reported that her vehicle was stolen on October 6, 2024, in General Trias, Cavite, by her business partner, identified as Antonino Tarayao.

Following an intelligence-driven investigation, authorities received a tip-off that the stolen vehicle was about to be sold. Using an entrapment strategy, officers posed as buyers, utilizing marked money, including a genuine ₱1,000 bill with serial number JR024578. The suspects, led by Marla Marcelo and Anthony Bautista, attempted to sell the vehicle, while Pia Martinez and Dennise Nicole Creencia delivered the car to the agreed location.

Verification through the PNP Highway Patrol Group Vehicle Information Management System (VIMS) confirmed the vehicle was not listed as wanted or stolen, reinforcing the legitimacy of the operation.

The suspects were arrested on the spot and informed of their rights under the Miranda Doctrine and Anti-Torture Law. The entire operation was documented using an Alternative Recording Device.

Intensified Anti-Carnapping Campaign

This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Highway Patrol Group under the leadership of PBGEN William M. Segun, in alignment with the Chief PNP’s directive to combat carnapping, highway robbery, and other forms of highway criminality.

All suspects are now in the custody of PHPT Laguna and face charges for violating Presidential Decree 1612 (Anti-Fencing Law). Further inquest proceedings are underway.

This achievement reflects the unwavering dedication of RHPU4A in ensuring public safety and security on the nation’s highways.
