PBBM Opens New CALAX Segment, Slashing Travel Time Between Laguna and Cavite

Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the official inauguration of a key new segment of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway, marking a major step forward in enhancing connectivity across South Luzon.

The newly opened 7.88-kilometer Subsection 3 extends CALAX from Silang (Aguinaldo) to the Governor’s Drive Interchange in General Trias, Cavite. This development is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion while cutting travel time between Biñan, Laguna and General Trias to just 26 minutes—down from the usual one hour.

Engineered to accommodate an additional 6,000 vehicles daily, the new segment provides motorists and businesses with a faster alternative route, effectively bypassing heavily congested roads in Cavite’s rapidly expanding industrial and residential zones.

With the opening of Subsection 3, CALAX now spans a total operational length of 26 kilometers, stretching from Mamplasan in Biñan, Laguna. Once completed, the full 44.6-kilometer expressway will connect the Manila-Cavite Expressway in Kawit, Cavite to the South Luzon Expressway in Mamplasan, forming a seamless transport corridor across the region.

The expressway network features eight major interchanges: Laguna Technopark, Laguna Boulevard, Santa Rosa–Tagaytay, Silang East, Silang (Aguinaldo), Governor’s Drive, Open Canal, and Kawit—strategically positioned to support economic activity and improve mobility.

Once fully integrated with CAVITEX, the CALAX corridor is projected to serve up to 95,000 vehicles ежедневно, reinforcing its role as a critical backbone for trade and transportation in Southern Luzon.
As part of its launch, the Governor’s Drive to Aguinaldo Interchange stretch will be toll-free for all vehicle classes for one month.

Meanwhile, standard toll fees will continue to apply for existing operational sections from Mamplasan in Biñan to Silang (Aguinaldo). Further updates on toll implementation will be announced by the Toll Regulatory Board in coordination with CALAX management.

CALAX is being developed and operated by MPCALA Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, under the concession granted by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
