BATANGAS CITY – Authorities intercepted an estimated ₱510 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested two alleged drug couriers while rescuing a minor during a major anti-drug interdiction operation at Batangas Port on Thursday morning, July 30.

The operation was led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–National Capital Region (PDEA RO-NCR) through its Northern District Office, in coordination with the PDEA Intelligence Service–Investigation and Operations Division (IS-IOD), PDEA Regional Office IV-A Batangas Provincial Office and Special Enforcement Team, Batangas Maritime Police Station, Philippine Coast Guard units, Asian Terminals Incorporated–Batangas, and the Coast Guard Intelligence Group Southern Tagalog.

Authorities arrested the suspects identified only by their aliases “Hasad,” a 22-year-old student, and “Judelyn,” a 27-year-old unemployed woman. Both are residents of Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City.

A 17-year-old male believed to be accompanying the suspects was also rescued during the operation and will be turned over to the local social welfare office for appropriate intervention and assistance.

Seized from the suspects were 75 foil packs containing approximately 75 kilograms (75,000 grams) of suspected shabu, with an estimated standard drug price of ₱510,000,000.

Authorities also recovered two identification cards, three mobile phones, a white van, several financial and billing documents, and other non-drug evidence believed to be connected to the illegal drug operation.

The confiscated drug evidence will be submitted to the PDEA Laboratory Service for forensic examination, while the arrested suspects remain under PDEA custody pending documentation and the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PDEA said the successful interdiction operation highlights the continuing coordination among law enforcement agencies in preventing the transport and distribution of illegal drugs through the country’s major ports.
