Ipinakilala ng Department of Agriculture IV-CALABARZON (DA-4A) sa mga Local Government Unit (LGU) sa rehiyon ang bagong programa ng Kagawaran na MASAGANA Rice Industry Development Program (MRIDP) para sa taong 2023 hanggang 2028.
Ayon kay DA-4A Rice Program Coordinator Maricris Ite, inisyatibo mismo ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang programa bilang pangmatagalang solusyon sa pagpapatibay ng value chain kung saan ang pokus nito ay maitaas ang produksyon ng mga kalakal at produktong pang-agrikultura.
Binubuo ang programa ng apat na key strategies, ito ay ang: (1) MA – matatag na kakayahan ng mga magsasaka laban sa nagbabagong klima, (2) SA – sama-samang mga magsasaka sa isang cluster tungo sa tipid na gastos at mataas na produksyon, (3) – GA – ganadong mga magsasaka sa pagtatanim at pagnenegosyo, at (4) NA – napapanahong diskarte sa palayan sa tulong ng makabagong teknolohiya.
Target ng MRIDP sa mga paunang taon na umabot sa siyamnapung porsyento (90%) ang self-sufficiency ng palay sa bansa hanggang sa makamit ang isang daang porsyento (100%) sa taong 2027 sa tulong ng pinagkaisang lakas ng mga sangay ng pamahalaan at pribadong sektor sa pangunguna ng DA.
Samantala, pinagtuunan itong talakayin ng DA-4A Rice Program sa isinagawang pagpaplano ng operasyon at pag-update ng datos ng mga lungsod at bayan sa rehiyon noong Ika-29 ng Hunyo hanggang ika-1 ng Agosto. #### (Danica T. Daluz, DA-4A RAFIS)
