𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), led by Commandant CG Admiral Ronie Gil Gavan, is actively coordinating with authorities for a swift and comprehensive investigation into the collision involving the fishing banca Ruel J and the Chinese-flagged vessel MV TAI HANG 8.

On December 5, 2023, five individuals were rescued after their fishing banca Ruel J was reportedly hit near Paluan, Occidental Mindoro. The PCG, dedicated to resolving the incident, revealed that the MV TAI HANG 8 continued its voyage, leaving the damaged boat adrift.

Pandiman Philippines Survey Specialist visited CGSS Sablayan to facilitate official communication and arrangements for the ocular survey inspection of Fbca Ruel J.

Pandiman Philippines, Incorporated, a maritime services company, appointed by the Owners, Taihang Shipping Company Limited, of subject vessel to appoint a competent surveyor to carry out an investigation to ascertain the cause, nature and extent of alleged collision incident that led to sinking of a fishing boat whilst en route Philippine waters and protect Members’ interest.

Collaborating with PCG Sablayan personnel, Pandiman Philippines assessed the damages to the starboard side outrigger of Fbca Ruel J. Preliminary findings were disclosed, and arrangements were made to compute the estimated damages, with a comprehensive report to be promptly submitted for further action.

Tai Hang Shipping Company, Limited, and Ambassador of China to the Philippines have likewise acknowledged receipt of the PCG’s official letter regarding the incident.

It can be recalled that in an earlier interview on this incident, Admiral Gavan warned all users of the seas of the Philippines that the PCG will go after them wherever they are if they commit an offense in the country’s waters.
