BATANGAS—Arestado ang isang barangay kagawad at dalawang barangay tanod matapos umano silang mahuling nagbebenta ng mga baril na walang kaukulang permit sa bayan ng San Juan.
Base sa report ng Criminal Investigation and Detection Group o CIDG, ikinasa ang isang buy-bust operation ng CIDG Batangas Provincial Field Unit katuwang ang San Juan Municipal Police Station dakong alas-2:56 ng hapon noong Lunes Marso 9 sa Brgy. Janao Janao.
Sa naturang operasyon, naaresto ang tatlong lalaking suspek na kinabibilangan ng isang kasalukuyang barangay kagawad at dalawang barangay tanod.
Nasamsam mula sa mga suspek ang tatlong kalibre .45 na baril na umano’y ibinebenta nang walang kaukulang papeles at lisensiya.
Ayon pa sa mga awtoridad, habang isinasagawa ang paghalughog sa mga suspek, nadiskubre pa ang isa pang kalibre .45 na baril mula sa pag-iingat ng isa sa nahuli.
Pinaniniwalaang sangkot umano ang mga naarestong suspek sa operasyon ng pagbebenta ng mga iligal na baril sa lalawigan ng Batangas.
Pinasalamatan naman ng pamunuan ng CIDG ang mga operatiba ng CIDG Region 4A at CIDG Batangas Provincial Field Unit sa matagumpay na operasyon na nagresulta sa pagkakasamsam ng mga baril at pagkakaaresto ng mga suspek.
Ayon sa CIDG, bahagi ito ng pinaigting na kampanya ng Philippine National Police laban sa mga baril na walang lisensya upang maiwasan ang paggamit nito sa iba’t ibang krimen.
